Today, we met again with our oncologist (#1) who will be overseeing our treatment and performing my hysterectomy down the road. We had a great meeting with him and met our radiation oncologist #2 who was wonderful. In our "Plan B" post, we were going to explore having my ovaries removed to be used in a promising but very primitive research study to cultivate and mature eggs in the future to be fertilized with Mark's sperm and implanted into a gestational host. In order to have my ovaries removed through laparoscopy, my radiation/chemo start date would again be pushed back another week.
It was a tough decision but we decided to accept our fate, forgoe waiting and move up our treatment to Monday May 12th. The tumor is starting to affect me more physically and it seems to be too much risk to wait. Aside from the nightly fevers of 101.8 and the night sweats, I have begun to feel light-headed and a bit of nausea....it is time for the squatter to go!
Our radiation oncologist shared with us that he and his wife were on the same path as us fertility-wise (thankfully without cancer), used the same fertility doctor and were unable to have a child through embryo preservation. They adopted an adorable baby girl and he said "it is the most amazing experience and we could not imagine our life without her."
I want to also share with everyone a quote from Jaclyn Foutz that she wrote in the blog comments the other day that I just love.
"SOMETIMES LIFE PUTS AN OBSTACLE IN THE ROAD TO DIRECT YOU, NOT TO STEER YOU OFF COURSE".
We are directing our efforts on first frying, then squishing, then booting that squatter right out of me. We have re-named our mission: "Operation Put Kins First", as difficult as it was.
Keep us in your thoughts and we will share more manana!!!
Love, Hugs and Good Health!

Kins and Mark, I am sure this was a hard decision and it's another option now taken off the table. I love Jac's quote too and I really do think it applies here, we just don't fully understand the direction yet. But one day we will. One thing I know is that its good that you are speeding up the eviction process of this little pest. I love you both and when your hearts ache mine does too. Thabu and I will help in anyway we can.
I am a huge fan of "Operation Put Kins First"! Fry that squatter's ass. (Insert my infamous "starfish" jump here - especially for Mark!)
Yes, "Operation Put Kins First" is well named and I am very proud of both of you. You mean the world to all of us and to keep you healthy is something that we ALL want! The sooner the better and you will kick it right outta there. Thinking of you always!! XOXO
I'm so sorry that yesterday was such a tough day for you both. I think you made the right decision though - we are fully behind Operation Put Kins First! And, if you choose to adopt down the road, just know that any child out there would be so lucky to have you both. You are amazing, both of you, and you inspire us everyday. We are here for you!
Your decision must have been very hard to make. I'll be the biggest cheerleader ever for the new plan! This squatter needs to be fryied right out of the galaxy!
keep smiling my beautiful friend.
We are thinking of you always and are cheering hard for "Operation Put Kins First"! Love, Amy, Dustin and Cole
Kins and Mark, Obviously never in your wildest dreams did you ever think you would have to make these kinds of decisions and it pains us that you do... but just know you are not alone. I have 100% faith in your doctors and know that you are in good hands. YOUR HEALTH IS MOST IMPORTANT! We all love you so very much and support your every decision. Love, Mari
Kins...you are so brave and I love Operation Put Kins First!! Your health is definitely #1 but I am also sorry that you even have to make these decisions. Like Jac said, if you choose adoption down the road, there are sooo many babies out there who would DIE to have you an Mark for paretns. xxoo
I'm late to these posts and just catching up. Operation Put Kins First is a great, yet difficult decision I'm sure. Jac is right with her quote. Of anyone I know, it is you and Mark who I can see adopting an Oh So Lucky baby from the world and loving him or her so very much. When you cross that bridge, let me know. We can take that adventure together! MT
I'm 100% positive that there are beautiful children out there whose fate is to be adopted by you. They are going to be lucky to have you as parents!
