Hi Friends and Family,
I hope everyone is enjoying their summer. It is super warm and humid here in Chicago but I have been enjoying getting out of the house going for walks. In past blogs, I have reported on the lovely side effects of my radiation and chemo and I am happy to report now that some (not all) have subsided.
You know that feeling you get in your stomach around midday when you look at the clock and realize you are either late for lunch or inadvertently skipped it. Yes, you know....grumble, grumble....hunger pains!!! They may be annoying to your average bear but for me, the moment my stomach started to growl recently after about 9 weeks of ignoring my need for nourishment was.....SO EXCITING!
Also, since the past week or so, my energy level has increased and I have been taking daily walks, running errands and spending more time OFF of the couch :-). I even went shopping the other day and bought myself a new purse (I know you are happy about that, Mom).
I thought I should share the good news with everyone!
My surgery is still scheduled for next Thursday, July 24th at Advocate Illinois Masonic Hospital and it seems as though I will be there for about 3 days. I have an appointment next Tuesday, July 22nd for a pre-surgery exam and will know more details. Until then, my plan is to get stronger....keep eating, enjoy my walks and time with Mark and friends.
Love, Hugs and Good Health!!
