Caught a Little Cold....Boo Hoo!

Happy Hump Day! I guess I caught a little cold as if I didn't have enough things trying to drag me down. After a successful radiation treatment this morning, I met with my doctor to discuss my sore throat. Yup, probably a cold and it is apparently going around the cancer center staff which is not good. My doctor had assured me that my white blood cells and platelets were strong enough to fight off my cold naturally and he was not concerned. He advised me to treat my cold as I normally would and take whatever medicine has helped relieve symptoms before. Looks like another trip to the drug store headed my way (yes, I visit at least weekly).

He was concerned, however, about my hemoglobin levels (red blood cells). A normal hemoglobin level is around 11 and after my first week of chemo, I was above 10 but last week I was sporting a 9.4 and Monday was down to 9.0 which is a bit of a concern. It is normal after having chemo that my hemoglobin would decrease and many patients have shots to assist them through the chemo process. So, my doctor is having me take a shot of Procrit tomorrow which is designed to increase my red blood cell count.

My plan is to rest, drink lots of liquids and stay positive!

Love, Hugs and Good Health!

Phew, finally on the blog so I can stay in the loop without bugging Mark all the time. I had to catch up and just read the whole thing from start to finish. You are incredible. Stay strong Kindra, you're beautiful!

I've found that copious amounts of red wine is the cure for the common cold. Plus it may help with the positive attitude!!!

I love you and send you great big hugs! Relax on the couch and make sure to drink your mangosteen juice!

Happy Birthday Mark!

Kins, Hope you get lots of R&R and get back to your fighting self soon.

Since you'll be spending some time on the couch, here are my recs...if you haven't seen Brokeback Mountain, I would recommend it. Just rented it -- not your typical love story, but good nonetheless. Oh, and Gone Baby Gone was provoking as well.

Lots of luv...

Sorry to hear you caught a little cold, but I know you can fight this off. I agree, every step is a milestone and all these baby steps add up to the victory step when you have completed your therapy and can move on to eradicating that squatter for good.

Have a fun time with your folks and keep up the positives, added to your strength and spirit, you have a winning team. Eradicate the squatter......love you, Janis
