Sleepy Times

Hi all,

I will be updating this more often (I did get permission this time) so as to keep everyone in the loop while Mark and Kindra deal with what is on their plate. Kindra has been home from the hospital for over a week and is having better days than when she was in the hospital, but she is still having some hard times. She has a pic line, a peripherally inserted central catheter, that goes from her arm to her heart, so she can receive IV antibiotics. The antibiotics are needed because of the blood infection they found at the hospital. She gets the IV 3 times a day, every 8 hours, and will be on this for 6 weeks. Kindra told Mark he didn't have to wear the classical nurse's uniform for each infusion, but he insists...

Kindra is also on a high dose of pain medication, along with other drugs, like coumadin, a blood thinner due to her blood clot. That being said, she sleeps most of the time. When she is awake, she is taking meds and eating, and she is also not always lucid. The reason I mention this is, I know quite a few people have tried getting a hold of Kindra. And lately, I know, from personal experience, that has not been an easy feat. She would obviously love to chat with everyone, but her new sleep schedule and medication regimen is making it harder to be social overall. Hopefully, a more frequently updated blog will help answer the question on everyone's mind: How is Kindra doing?

Kindra, Mark and Amy, a friend visiting from AZ (now that is true friendship, leaving the warmth of AZ for this wonderful Chicago weather), went to the doctor yesterday. Kindra is still bloated from the hospital, and this can be the result of two things: lymphedema and fluid from the tumors. They have also decided to put off further chemo until after the holidays so her body can recover from all it has gone/ is going through. The appointment also marked the first time she left the house since she came back from the hospital and it was quite exhausting for her. She slept about 5.5 hours after she returned, had some dinner and started snoozing on the couch before she headed back to bed.

As I said, we will try to update this more often. Please keep posting comments as we can read them to Kindra, it always makes her happy to hear nice words.

Happy Hump Day,
Marnie

Hi Kindra and Mark,
It was so nice to be able to spend time with you guys this weekend. I will be back in two weeks for more foot massages, smoothies, and yes mark --I now know we use Farenheit in the USA to tell about degrees!
Keep up the rest--I will keep sending my prayers for strength and love.

Lots of Love,
Molly

Mark and Kindra...
I would LOVE to see Mark in a nurse's uniform. I'm sure the skirt accentuates those legs of his! I am so proud of you Kins. You are such a fighter. I'm always here if you need anything.

Hey Kindra, if you think Mark in the Nurse outfit is bad, ask him to put on his baby blue tuxedo. Hopefully you made him get rid of it a long time ago.....
I think of you everyday , Kindra, and when I do you inspire me.

Love
Charles

Kins & Mark, As always you are in my thoughts throughout the day. I miss you very much. I am quite excited to see Mark in that nurses uniform in a few weeks. It's been way too long since I've seen him in a skirt. Keep fighting that infection and getting stronger. Love you - Erin

Thanks Marnie. It sounds like her body could use a little rest -- hopefully with lots of Zzzzs and some good meds she'll be back to fighting condition soon.

Kindra and Mark - thinking of you both everyday!

Lots of love from your "narcie sister,"

Kindra and Mark-

I only wish that I could be there in Chicago to give you both a big hug, but please know my heart is with you both.

So many joyful memories the Pfannenstiel's and Buchanan's had together. The many cruises we shared together, especially the 2000 cruise. What a way to celebrate the changing of centuries. Everywhere we went, your father always had a way of getting the cheapest guided trip/driver for us, and of course we never knew where they might take us or if they were sober. But we always had a great time together. How thankful I am for being included in your family. There is no family like all of you.

Your bravery and joyful heart are what I remember most about you, both as a child and an adult.

Much love, Janis
