So today, Mark and I had our first meeting with a wonderful radiation oncologist, a man who spent about 90 minutes answering all of our questions, was patient when Mark continued to flip his clipboard with notes and concerns and looked us straight in the eye and said "we are going to cure this", "stay positive". We were taken by him immediately and felt very comfortable in his capable hands. His job was to exam me (again...) and explain all about the radiation and chemotherapy process. Here is the treatment plan that was given to us today that we feel good about:
1. Radiation daily and Chemotherapy weekly for 5 weeks.
2. Brachytherapy (they put a radiation implant directly on the "squatter")
3. Surgery to remove the cervix, uterus, ovaries and fallopian tubes.
The plan is to continue with Operation: Freeze McLennansicles, have my eggs extracted and fertilized on May 13th and then begin the radiation immediately on May 14th.
Some may ask: why wait? Well, when a 29-year old is told she cannot have children when radiation begins because it fries all of your reproductive organs, they are more than willing and feel comfortable waiting 7 extra days to at least give us a chance at McLennansicles....."sit, squatter", "stay, squatter", "don't get bigger, squatter".
On another note, did you know that when you have a CT scan of any of your body parts that they can scan this on the computer and show you with digital imaging your organs as if you were traveling among them? Remember the movie INNER SPACE with Meg Ryan and Dennis Quaid (great movie)? It felt just like that. I was able to look (more like stare) at all of my organs, my lymphnodes and even could see my gas! My gas, people!!! Yes, technology has the ability to know when I am going to fart before I do.
Thankfully, we have more good news to report from the latest chest CT............NO spreading to any other organs!!!! That squatter seems to be quite happy getting larger (about 6-7 cm in diameter now) in my cervix and by-golly he better stay there!
Tomorrow's plans: more fertility consultation, more shots in my belly and continuing to keep the maxi pad from going out of style.

Kins, your sense of humor is going to get you through this! I can't believe you had your own real-life inner space event! That's crazy!! It sounds like you've made some decisions and have a plan. I can't wait to see you on the 17th.

I'm so glad there is a set plan now...I have no doubt you are going to get through this...just let us know what we can do to help. It's almost as if all your friends and family are on the starting block for a sprint anxiously waiting for you to say GO...together we'll beat this SQUATTER!
Kindra, you are truly amazing through all of this. You are keeping us all positive when the roles are usually reversed. It looks like you met your match in the Radiation Oncologist, we will have to see who can be more optimistic!
This comment is for the readers: Kindra went out to San Francisco for my bachelorette party last weekend. You would have never known anything of this magnitude was going on in her life. She was as happy and carefree as always. She was her cheerleader self throughout the weekend and always had a smile on her face. It takes a truly extraordinary human being to enjoy life when you have a hard journey ahead of you. All the while she is determined to bring the Maxi back!!
